What we actually use
Our bamboo socks are soft, breathable and naturally durable — they don't need to be sealed in plastic to arrive in perfect condition. So we keep it simple:
- Paper and card packaging — your order ships in paper-based mailers and card packaging, not poly mailers.
- No plastic fillers — no bubble wrap, no air pillows, no polystyrene.
- Recyclable at home — everything we send can go straight in your kerbside recycling. No sorting, no guilt, no bin-day dilemmas.
Why it matters
The UK generates over 2 million tonnes of plastic packaging waste every year, and a huge share of it comes from e-commerce — poly bags and plastic mailers that get used once, for a matter of days, then persist in landfill or the environment for centuries. Soft plastics like poly mailers are among the hardest materials to recycle, and most kerbside collections don't accept them at all.
Paper and card are different. They're made from a renewable resource, they're widely recycled across the UK, and if they do end up in the environment, they break down in weeks rather than centuries.
It's the same reason we chose bamboo
Plastic-free packaging isn't a marketing add-on for us — it's the same logic that led us to bamboo in the first place. Bamboo is one of the fastest-growing plants on Earth. It needs no pesticides, very little water, and regenerates from its own roots without replanting. Choosing bamboo over conventional cotton or synthetic fibres was a sustainability decision. Wrapping those same socks in single-use plastic would undo the point.
